An update to the latest version of Android edged closer for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners in the UK today, after it emerged the phone-maker has begun rolling out Google's latest OS to its flagship phablet.
Android 4.4 (KitKat) is now available for Polish versions of the Note 3 via the tech giant’s proprietary download solution, Kies, Samsung announced via its official Twitter feed.
The onset of the European rollout means that the UK upgrade can’t be too far away – something Google will surely welcome given the persistent problems with fragmentation that continue to plague its smartphone platform.
But in news that will disappoint some users, the update doesn't add much in the way of new features. And it’s not terribly different cosmetically either.
As Expert Reviews notes, although a see-through notifications bar is present and correct alongside white icons lifted from the Nexus 5, there’s no sign of the radical TouchWiz overhaul that’s been touted elsewhere in recent weeks.
The update comes as Google revealed that KitKat is running on just 1.4% of Android devices.
