BlackBerry’s BBM app for iOS and Android just got a whole lot more attractive, after the Canadian company added support for its Channel and Voice features on both smartphone platforms.
It now means BBM is as powerful on Apple and Google phones as its is on BlackBerry devices. Channels lets you natter with other BBM users about any topic you can think of, no matter if you’re friends with them or not.
Voice now means you can make VoIP calls to your BBM friends from your iOS or Android handset. It brings the app up to speed and shows how serious BlackBerry is about offering complete versions of its software on rival devices.
BBM launched on iOS and Android at the end of 2013, hitting 20 million downloads in its first week. Doubtless these new features will convince even more users to take the plunge.
