Samsung will unveil its next–generation smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear 2, at its Unpacked 5 event on February 24th in Barcelona. That’s the word from ‘a person in the smartphone industry with knowledge of the plans’, who has spoken with The New York Times.
While the source didn’t reveal details, the watch is expected to come with a flexible display and a better battery. The original Galaxy Gear's display and battery life were panned by critics.
The insider also says that the Galaxy S5 will definitely launch at the same time. He claims that Samsung is ditching the gimmicky selling points which it used in last year’s Galaxy S4, instead focusing on its Knox security features aimed at enterprise customers.
Interestingly, Samsung is said to be plotting a low key event, without the glitz that accompanied the launch of the Galaxy S4 in New York last spring. That gathering was widely derided as brash and sexist, garnering Samsung unfavourable headlines.
