iPhone 6: Atmospheric sensors included, says analyst

Apple’s next–generation iPhone may be home to atmospheric sensors, allowing it to measure temperature and humidity without accessing the internet.

That’s according to Sun Chang Xu, an analyst for ESM China News. And it may not be as far–fetched as it seems. Samsung’s flagship Galaxy devices have been using such tech since the launch of the S4 last spring.

The move would allow Apple to turn the iPhone 6 into a more accurate weather station.

Admittedly, that’s not a key concern for most users, but such sensors could also come into play with iOS 8’s rumoured Healthbook app, telling users about outside conditions ahead of a workout.

The iPhone 6 is expected to launch in autumn this year. Previous chatter suggests Apple will up for the device’s screen size and include a plethora of new fitness features, aimed at tying in with its forthcoming iWatch.
