Nokia Superman reportedly has a 5-megapixel selfie cam

Nokia's recent spate of phones made waves with their awesome camera skills, and now it looks like Microsoft's latest plaything has a new imaging device up its sleeve.

Codenamed the Nokia Superman, it's a 4.7-inch device that has a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie cam. Which should be perfect for capturing your 'blue steel' poses.

The handset is just rumoured at the moment and the sources who told The Verge all about it weren't able to confirm anything else about its spec sheet.

One thing's for sure though – it won't be marketed under the Nokia name. In a Q&A yesterday, Stephen Elop said the Nokia brand wouldn't be used anymore for phones after the firm's mobile arm was acquired by Microsoft.

The Superman will reportedly go on sale towards the end of the year. It'll purportedly be announced around the same time as the second Windows Phone 8 update that Microsoft has planned.

There are more Microsoft mobiles coming our way soon too.

One codenamed Goldfinger was supposed to have been announced alongside Windows 8.1 at the recent Build 2014, but has been delayed until Nokia can add Windows Phone 8.1 support for its gesture controls. Intriguing, no?

A handset codenamed Moneypenny is also reportedly in the works, though details are scarce.

Companies are becoming more wise to the way of the selfie. Samsung just announced the Galaxy K Zoom, which has a selfie alarm, so you can time your 'look-at-me-aren't-I-the-mostest?' snaps perfectly.

The South Korean company has previously released a range of compact cameras with front-facing screens so you can frame your self-portraits too.

HTC's One (M8) also has a 5-megapixel front-facer for selfies.
