HTC has rolled out a pared down version of its well-reviewed new flagship, the One (M8).
The new HTC One Mini 2 (yes, we know it’s something of a mouthful), was revealed earlier this week, as the Taiwanese company looks to claw its way back to profitability after years struggling to catch up with the likes of Samsung, Sony and Apple.
Want the inside line on this hot new device? Then read on and we’ll tell you five things you need to know about the new HTC One Mini 2.
1 It’s not so mini
Sure, it might be called the HTC One Mini 2. But this is hardly a small phone.
The device comes with a capacious 4.5-inch screen, still making it a sizeable slab to cart around in the pocket of your ever-tighter jeans.
Still, it has Super LCD2 tech, which means it’ll be nice and bright whether you’re flicking through Facebook or watching a movie.
2 Camera smarts
The rear 13-megapixel peeper plays nice with HTC’s own Zoe app for breezy social media sharing.
But the real story here is the five-megapixel effort up front. It utilises a self-timer feature designed to help you take top notch selfies every time.
There’s even a special Touch Up function to ensure you look your best every time you pout for Instagram.
3 Its storage-tastic
There might only be 16GB of on board storage. But the HTC One Mini 2 comes with support for 128GB microSD cards.
That’s amazing news if you want to bring content over from another device and also means you can stash thousands of tunes locally, not to mention heftier video files.
4 Sense 6 is on board
Just because this is a pared down blower doesn’t mean HTC has forgotten to include some of its latest tech.
Sense 6 software is slathered over Android 4.4 KitKat, serving up access to the excellent BlinkFeed function for getting live information from news and social media apps without opening them. And BoomSound speakers are also included.
There’s a gold edition
EE has got an exclusive offer on a gold version of the HTC One Mini 2. Or to give it its official name Amber Gold.
Three is also offering the new phone and will be stocking it in a less over the top silver shade. Either way, this one looks like a winner.
