Motorola Moto E hands-on video walkthrough

Motorola’s renaissance has been one of the happier, more welcome developments in the phone market in recent years.

It’s a rebirth that’s been driven by the ace, gushingly reviewed Moto G, which featured a top-notch spec sheet and an unadorned version of Android for just £119. And was yesterday confirmed as Motorola’s biggest-selling smartphone ever.

And if price point is anything go by, the just unveiled Moto E will be another palpable hit. For £89, you get a high-resolution 4.3-inch, 256ppi display, long-lasting 1980mAh battery and a five megapixel snapper.

You’re also in line for the latest 4.4 KitKat version of Android, which is similarly unencumbered by bloatware. Bar the actually rather welcome Moto Alert and Moto Mobility additions, that is.

But with Lenovo acquiring Google, it’s thought that the Moto E could be the last of Moto’s beezer-phone-at-a-budget-price efforts. That’s purportedly because Lenovo won’t be able to subsidise the retail price as it appears Google did with the Moto G.

With that prospect looming, we took the handset for a spin at the launch event this week in the video here. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
