Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C outsold Samsung’s newly launched Galaxy S5 in the UK during May, according to new research from Kantar Worldpanel Comtech.
The research firm looked at sales during the Galaxy S5’s first full month on sale and found that it was sitting in third place in the smartphone standings, behind Apple’s much older iPhones.
It’s not all bad reading for Sammy though. It reckons that 17% of Galaxy S5 owners across Europe switched from Apple devices. 58% already owned Samsung handsets before they upgraded.
It seems despite Apple’s success, iOS is still a distant second in terms of market share in Europe claims Kantar. It sits on 16.6%, well behind Android’s 73.3%. Windows Phone has 8.1%.
