Microsoft Office is finally available for the iPhone and is coming soon for Android tablets, after landing on the iPad aeons ago.
The software bundle, dubbed New Office for iPhone, features versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the same features and feel as the iPad but optimised for the smaller screen.
Microsoft has also released an updated version of Office for iPad, which is available to download now, and is dropping a Preview of Office apps for Android Tablet ahead of the release of a full version next year.
John Case, corporate vice president of Office at Microsoft, said: “Anytime someone has an idea or an inspiration, we want to empower them to take action.
“With over a billion Office customers worldwide, and over 40 million downloads on the iPad, it’s clear that Office applications are what people want to use to get things done.”
All versions will be free to download. But it’s worth noting that you’ll only be able to run it on your iPhone or iPad if it’s running iOS 7 or above, which effectively freezes older-gen kits out.
