Apple is rumoured to be gearing up for the release of its much–rumoured iPad Pro tablet between April and June next year. That’s according to Japanese magazine Mac Fan, which has laid its hands on schematic drawings for the upcoming device.
The images show a tablet rocking a 12.2–inch screen, the same size rumoured by Japanese’s Apple fansites last month.
The magazine claims the tablet will be called the iPad Air Plus, in keeping with Apple’s current iPhone naming strategy.
Interestingly, it also reckons Apple is gearing up to include a beefed up A9 processor in the iPad Pro, an upgrade on the current A8X chip found in the iPad Air 2.
The drawings also depict dual speakers, one set at each end of the device. This tallies with previous gossip surrounding the slate.
Additionally, Mac Fan says that Apple is working on a slimmed down iPad mini 4, due for release at the same time as the iPad Pro.
It’s said to feature an A8X processor and similar design to the iPad Air 2.
Slow sales of the smaller, existing iPads are thought to have been the main contributor to the tablet’s sluggish performance in 2014, although these updated plans point to Cupertino being willing to continue selling a pared down tablet.
