Apple Watch: iOS 8.2 beta release reveals new details

Apple has released the latest developer build of iOS 8 and within it there are new details about just what we can expect from the company’s forthcoming smartwatch.

iOS 8.2 beta four is currently rolling out to developers. While it was already known to contain WatchKit, Apple’s development tools for the Apple Watch, this latest release points to a new dedicated iPhone app for the savvy timepiece.

Dubbed simply ‘Apple Watch app’, it appears to be an essential addition for those wanting to pair the watch with their handset.

It’s thought that the app will allow users to tweak the settings of the Apple Watch without having to fiddle around with the device on their wrist.

Sadly, there are no hints about an Apple Watch release date. However, recent information suggests that Apple is lining up the device for a March launch.

According to anonymous sources, store staff in the US are apparently being trained up on the device in February, before Apple launches it the following month.

iOS 8.2 is expected to launch at the same time as the Apple Watch.
