Samsung’s Orbis smartwatch, first rumoured at the start of 2015, will feature wireless charging tech, according to whispers doing the rounds today.
The move would see the Korean company drop the awkward charging cradles used with its current smartwatch line-up.
Other details about such functionality are yet to be made clear, but it’s likely Samsung will offer some kind of charging mat with the device when it goes on sale.
The Orbis is set to be Samsung’s first round-faced smartwatch and is said to feature a rotating bezel and digital crown.
The latter is a key feature of the Apple Watch, something which could be a potential legal flashpoint if Samsung’s effort sails too close to that of the Cupertino company.
The Orbis is expected to make an official appearance at Mobile World Congress in early March, alongside the heavily rumoured Galaxy S6.
Recent chatter has pointed to the latter featuring an all–metal design and non–removable battery.
