‘Next is now’ is the tagline Samsung is using to sell its new Galaxy S smartphones. It sounds like the sort of PR puff and airy phrasing that only really means anything to advertising execs.
But for once there’s some truth in the slogan. Not least in the case of the Galaxy S6 Edge.
With a dual curved screen design, it looks a million miles from the tablet-style flat slab designs favoured by each and every one of its competitors.
We think it genuinely feels like it’s been beamed in from a better, brighter future. Read our full text review if you want to know why.
The standard Galaxy S6, which features a more conventional design and a flat 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen, is no slouch either.
Sharing the same spec sheet as the Edge variant, it’s home to a quick-launch 16-megapixel camera, a front-facing five-megapixel camera for selfies and improved, more responsive fingerprint security.
Both the standard S6 and the S6 Edge also swap earlier Galaxy S phones’ plastic construction for an all-metal build, and feature an ultra-fast charging mode as well as the latest 5.0 Lollipop version of Android. And they both add up to pretty tidy packages, we reckon.
