Google has finally started updating its proprietary iOS apps to support the Apple Watch, some three weeks after the techno timepiece landed on retail shelves.
The search giant has tweaked its News and Weather add–on so you can now check out headlines on your new smartwatch.
There’s a major snag, however. Only news is supported, with weather information yet to tip up on the watch.
Headlines apparently appear laggy too, due to the Apple Watch having to request them via a connected iPhone.
That somewhat belies Google’s claim that the app is ‘Ready for Apple Watch’.
However, it does at least suggest that the Big G is serious about giving its iOS apps Apple Watch support.
There had been fears that Google wouldn’t overhaul them in order to protect its Android Wear products.
While there’s no official word on when the likes of Gmail or Maps will be overhauled for the Apple Watch, it does at least now appear that the best Google software is destined for Apple’s latest creation.
The Apple Watch continues to be troubled by supply issues, with those placing orders still not expecting to lay their hands on the device until July.
