Microsoft is priming two new top-end Lumia smartphones, marking its first attempts to take on the competition at the top end of the market since buying the Lumia brand from Nokia.
According to an extensive leak, Microsoft is prepping a deluxe handset codenamed ‘Cityman’. A stripped back, smaller effort known as the ‘Talkman’ is also being readied.
Cityman is said to come with a capacious 5.7–inch screen, featuring QHD tech, putting it right up there with the likes of the LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6.
With a 20-megapixel camera around the back, a five megapixel up front for selfies, octa-core processor, 32GB storage and 3GB RAM, this is a device that, on paper, sounds every bit as good as the current roster of top notch models from tech’s biggest players.
The slightly smaller Talkman is thought to feature a 5.2–inch QHD display, with the same RAM, storage and camera options as its swankier stablemate.
Six cores mean it’ll run slightly slower, but only true mobile fanatics are likely to be able to discern the difference.
There’s no word on when either phone will be on shelves. But with such an extensive leak, and with competitors now shaping up for a summer-long battle for smartphone supremacy, the wait shouldn’t be too long.
Expect both phones to land around the same time as Windows 10, Microsoft’s all-new operating system.
