Facebook’s iOS app will be the first frontier for a new update from the social network, allowing users to choose just what they see in their news feed, rather than being beholden to the company’s inexplicable algorithms.
From hereon in, you can choose whose posts get put at the top of your feed. This marks a major change from Facebook deciding what you should see, meaning you often miss information from close friends.
As well as prioritising friends, the updated app makes it easier to 'unfollow' those who you don’t want to see without 'unfriending' them completely.
It’s not all personal control, however. Facebook is also testing a new recommendation tool within its iPhone and iPad app, letting you pick pages to follow based on what your friends regularly catch up on.
The updated app is rolling out now. Switch on automatic updates on your iPhone or iPad or snare it manually to make one of Facebook’s more annoying features less, well, annoying.
