The iPhone 7 will be a lavishly specc’d effort with major design changes from the current-gen phone. Or it will if design team Ivo Marić and Tomislav Rastovac have anything to do with it.
The pair’s vision for the iPhone 7, which was brought to the world's attention by Nowhereelse.fr, takes design elements from previous models and melds them into a one-stop compilation of His Royal Iveness’ Greatest Hits.
So we get the lush glass and metal build of the iPhone 4 and 4S, albeit with 2.5D sapphire standing in for Corning Gorilla Glass. But we also get the ports, speakers and button placements of the current-gen iPhone 6.
Elsewhere, you’ll find support for wireless charging via an Apple wireless charging dock that they’ve also dreamed up, as well as a 16-megapixel iSight camera that promises to give Apple apostles the major megapixel upgrade that’s been missing in recent years.
Other improvements are a QHD Retina display and a beefier A10 processor to keep things ticking over. All of which actually seem pretty in keeping with Apple’s previous form with updating its smartphones.
What do we think of it all? Well, we miss the premium feel of the iPhone 4 and 4S, so we’re taken with the return of that element in Maric and Tomislav’s vision. And wireless charging is welcome too, even if that’d likely mean paying a vast sum for an official Apple wireless charging dock.
