Samsung looks set to launch its heavily touted Galaxy S6 Edge Plus at a special event on August 13th, after cryptic invites [see image above] to a Galaxy Unpacked gathering at New York’s Lincoln Centre hinted at the arrival of a new curved screen handset.
Rumours appeared earlier this month suggesting that Samsung was looking to launch its new Galaxy Note range in August, alongside the beefed-up version of the Galaxy S6.
The Note line-up is usually revealed in September, ahead of the annual IFA technology show in Berlin.
However, last year the Galaxy Note 4's headlines and sales were stolen by Apple, which launched its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus just days after the Galaxy Note 4.
With Samsung’s profits looking downbeat, it appears it wants a longer window of opportunity for its new handsets.
Both phones are set to feature all metal and glass designs, with the S6 Edge Plus featuring the same curved screen that helped the S6 Edge win critical plaudits from tech sites.
Expect to see more leaks in the next few weeks as Samsung gets ready for its official unveiling.
