As hordes of people rushed to update their iOS devices, the first thing they'll surely want to turn to is the emoji board. Did you hear? There are new ones!
Finally, a taco! At last we can talk about avocados without having to remember how to spell avocado! Flipping the bird via text no longer requires the use of the camera!
Except that’s not quite true. While the new emoji are on their way, you won’t find them in the iOS 9 update - that’s something that the world at large has been misinformed about.
The sad fact of the matter is that the updated emoji won’t hit iPhones and iPads until iOS 9.1 is released. Like, why even bother releasing iOS 9 at all?
The vaguely good news is that iOS 9.1 is already in beta, so we should see it heading to iPhones and iPads in October.
As well as the taco, avocado and raised middle finger, the new emoji line up includes a unicorn, a block of cheese, a burrito, a detective and some new weaponry, among other things.
