The iPhone 6S has plenty of new and unique selling points, but it seems that one major USP has been kept secret by Apple. While the fruity firm makes no mention of it in its marketing blurb, it has today emerged that the handset could actually be waterproof.
YouTuber Zach Straley put the 6S through its paces. One of his tests involved dunking the phone in a bowl of water for 30 minutes. And it – and the 6S Plus – worked just fine.
He then submerged them for another 15 minutes. And lo and behold, they still worked without a hitch.
Undeterred, he put them back in the drink for yet another 15 minutes. After a full hour, both phones were dandy, with even the headphone socket and Lightning port unaffected.
We wouldn't recommend doing the same with your brand new iPhone, as it will invalidate the warranty. But it's encouraging to see that Apple's hot-off-the-presses efforts might have super powers.
This isn't the first time Apple has kept coy about waterproofing skills.
Testers discovered the Apple Watch could survive a session in the drink, even though Apple said nothing about its water-resistant properties on its website.
