OnePlus unveiled a new smartphone challenger today, with a luxe build, the latest version of Android and an admirable commitment to design in a handset priced less than £200.
Available on the same invite-only basis as earlier OnePlus smartphones, the standard edition of the One Plus X is fashioned from onyx black glass and is up for grabs alongside a limited edition Ceramic version.
At 140mm x 69mm x 6.9mm it’s the smallest OnePlus device so far, with a feature set that includes a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and 0.2 second auto-focus, Android 5.1.1 out of the box and a secondary eight-megapixel camera.
It also packs a five-inch 1080p Active Matrix OLED screen with 441 PPI resolution for sharp images, dual SIM slots for switching between networks easily, internal storage of 16GB and the option to expand capacity by up to 128GB via microSD card support.
The OnePlux X Onyx edition will go on sale in the UK from November 5th for £199. Want the ceramic edition? That’s up for grabs from November 24th and will cost you £269.
As before, though, for the first month you’ll only be able to buy one if you’re invited to. To get involved, you’ll need to sign up to the ordering scheme on the OnePlus site and wait for an invite to hit your inbox.
