The official Google app for iOS now supports two of Apple’s key features in its latest iPhones and iPads: 3D Touch and split–screen multitasking.
The update, which is available to download now, means iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus owners can hard press on their screen to see shortcuts for search, image search and video search.
iPad owners, meanwhile, can bring the app up alongside other apps in split–screen multitasking. This function has become a core part of the iPad experience, especially on Apple’s recently released iPad Pro.
Other updates include the ability to see holiday opening hours for businesses in the search tool, as well as a graph of a pub, restaurant or bar’s busiest times. The latter has been a key feature in standard Google search for some time.
Because 3D Touch and split–screen multitasking are only found on iOS, those features do not work in the Android version of the Google app.
