Google Maps for iOS now includes the option to add a ‘pit stop’ to your journey, without having to break out of navigation mode when you’re going from A to B.
The tool, which was released for Android devices last October, lets users tap a search icon in the top right hand corner of their screen, where they can search for petrol stations, grocery stores, coffee or anywhere else they need to detour.
Until now, breaking a route in Google Maps’ navigation mode on an iPhone has meant ending the journey early and changing your destination to the place you want to detour to.
This updated feature puts Google Maps well ahead of the game again and should help bolster its appeal to Apple users who have been using the latter’s own native Maps app in increasing numbers over the last year.
The updated app is available to download now and works in over 100 countries worldwide.
