The first images of what appears to be the rear casing of Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 7 have appeared online.
The depictions of the iPhone’s rear chassis come from Taiwanese smartphone case-maker Catcher Technology. They clearly show a new–look take on the iPhone, which does away with the plastic antenna bands found on the current iPhone 6S.
The brushed metal case also has a larger hole at the top for the camera, which suggests rumours about Apple’s plans for a dual lens snapper could be on the money.
This is the first time that an exterior part of the iPhone 7 has been seen and is sure to mark the start of a long spring and summer of leaks and gossip about Apple’s new device.
The updated phone is expected to come in as many as three variations. A standard iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as well as a model dubbed the iPhone Pro by some Apple watchers.
It’s thought that the Pro model will have a better camera and brawnier internal specs.
Next week sees Apple launch its latest iPhone, the iPhone SE, a smaller device aimed at current iPhone 5s users.
