Apple could differentiate the forthcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus far more than initially believed, fresh rumours from insiders suggest.
Until now, gossip has only pointed towards the two devices having different camera lenses, while retaining many of the same internal specs such as storage and RAM.
However, new reports from China’s Weibo social network claim that Apple will offer wildly different features with each device.
Insiders say that Apple will offer 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models of the smaller iPhone 7, with 32GB, 128GB and 256GB editions of the iPhone 7 Plus.
It had been thought that the 256GB option would be offered across both devices and that Apple was doing away with the 16GB model entirely.
What’s more, the iPhone 7 Plus may also come with 3GB of RAM and could feature a much more powerful 21-megapixel camera.
The iPhone 7 is set to come with a 12-megapixel shooter, according to the same sources.
As with all Apple rumours, these latest claims should be treated with a degree of caution.
Even so, they do point to a trend of Apple putting more effort into the iPhone 7 Plus, perhaps giving further credence to the idea that the handset could actually be dubbed the iPhone Pro.
