Apple will launch its new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones during the week starting September 12th.
That’s according to mobile watcher and renowned leaker Evan Blass, a man known for having solid connections inside the world’s largest technology companies.
Blass took to Twitter with the simple message, "iPhone 2016 release: week of September 12th."
The date tallies with Apple’s iPhone 6s launch last year, which took place on September 9th. Apple has traditionally upgraded the iPhone in autumn since it first revealed the iPhone 4 in 2010.
Blass did not reveal any more details about the iPhone 7, or whether Apple was planning on adding a third iPhone Pro model to the range. The latter has been widely rumoured in the past week.
The iPhone 7 is set to come with only minor upgrades compared with last year’s model. The phone is said to have the same screen, although it will feature an improved camera and new headphone configuration, which will see users connect their cans and earbuds via the device’s Lightning connector, rather than a 3.5mm headphone jack.
