Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus looks set to come with the same Smart Connector tech found in the company’s iPad Pro, after a freshly leaked image of the device’s rear shell appeared to confirm the plans.
The larger, 5.5–inch handset is being billed as a more powerful device than its smaller iPhone 7 stablemate.
Until now, though, the inclusion of a Smart Connector was seen as unlikely. The tech is used to connect accessories such as keyboards to iPads.
However, this image clearly shows the three dots required to hook up accessories.
The picture comes from the same well regarded source who recently leaked an official–looking iPhone 7 rear shell.
As well as a Smart Connector, the photo shows the iPhone 7 Plus with a dual screen camera.
The latter has long been trailed as a key feature, aimed at enticing those who unsure about upgrading to a device which has little else to offer over last year’s iPhone range.
The apparent inclusion of a Smart Connector also raises the question of whether Apple will call this device the iPhone 7 Plus or dub it the iPhone Pro.
The latter has been suggested by some keen Apple-watchers and would bring the device in line with its iPad line-up.
Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are set to launch in September.
