Apple is developing a pair of low-powered Bluetooth headphones designed to offer long battery life, fixing an issue which as plagued similar products for years.
The new EarPods use Bluetooth tech which Apple acquired when it bought Passif Semiconductor in 2013. The aim is to offer much longer power compared with rival headphones.
Apple had apparently planned to launch the headphones last year, but was thwarted after testing revealed that they weren’t up to scratch.
While it’s not clear whether it will reveal the product next month, it would certainly make sense.
Apple is ditching the traditional headphone slot with its new iPhone 7.
While it’s expected to offer a dedicated dongle to connect wired headphones, a new Bluetooth set would help it push claims that the iPhone 7 is the first truly wireless smartphone.
The iPhone 7 is due to launch around September 9th, according to recent reports.
