Google has rolled out a new version of its Maps app for Android, adding real–time commuting information and curated lists on the best places to check out locally.
The updated app comes with three tabs which can be accessed by swiping up on the main screen.
Tap the ‘places’ tab and you’ll see lists of restaurants, bars, cafes, ATMs, petrols stations and supermarkets nearby.
What’s more, you can drill down into costs such as ‘cheap eats’ and ‘business dining’ in order to find the most appropriate spot to grab a bite.
The tweaked ‘driving’ tab delivers real time ETAs for those who have their work and home addresses saved, with real–time traffic information and delay notifications to boot.
For those using public transport the ‘transit’ tab now serves up on–the–fly details on whether it’s best to take the bus or train to get to work or home, as well as the chance to search the smartest routes to any destination.
It even gives ETAs so you can message ahead and explain why you’re running late.
The update is out now for Android phones. Just head to Google Play to download.
