Samsung has sent out invites to a special media event taking place at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
Held on 26th February, the day before the main event opens its doors, it’s unclear what Samsung will reveal at its gathering. The teaser invite suggests it will be some kind of new smartphone, or possibly an updated tablet.
Samsung Galaxy S8: Rumours, specs and release date - Everything you need to know
Last month, Samsung confirmed it would not be launching its new flagship phone, the Galaxy S8, at the annual mobile industry shindig. Instead, it’s said to be plotting a press conference in late March, where it will unveil the much–anticipated phone.
Samsung could use MWC to show off plans for Project Valley, its folding phones which were heavily trailed in 2016. There may also be new, budget models on show, as rivals in China gear up for an all–out assault on Samsung’s lucrative low–end business.
Without the Galaxy S8 on show, MWC’s biggest draw is likely to be LG’s new G6 smartphone, which promises a new, narrower display, designed to take advantage of Android Nougat’s split screen app mode.
