Samsung has said its new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are enjoying a pre–order boom, less than two weeks after both devices were first officially unveiled.
In a brief statement, the mobile-maker said: “Pre-orders of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in the US are outpacing those of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge with strong double digit growth.
“In addition, the majority of consumers have been selecting the Galaxy S8+, with Midnight Black being the preferred color [sic] of choice.”
Samsung’s claims relate to the US. It is not clear how well the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are doing in the UK, although hype around the launch of the phones suggests it is on track to be a success.
It all points towards Samsung recovering from last year’s Galaxy Note 7 debacle, which saw the company lose billions when it had to recall and then discontinue its flagship phone owing to exploding batteries.
The Galaxy S8 features a new all–screen design, with the traditional home button switched to the back of the handset.
