Samsung is reportedly working on a smaller version of the Galaxy S8.
Dubbed the S8 Mini, the handset is rumoured to look almost exactly the same as the model that's in shops now. But will feature a 5.3-inch screen in place of the 5.8-inch display found on the standard edition of the S8.
According to IT Home, the Chinese website where news of the S8 Mini originated, it will have the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio as found in the full-size S8. (Aspect ratio refers to the ratio between the screen's height and width.)
While it will pack the same 4GB of RAM as its bigger brother, there are inevitable compromises.
The S8 Mini will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, instead of the more powerful 835 that powers the S8. And it'll have 32GB of onboard storage, as opposed to the S8's 64GB.
Samsung hasn't launched a mini version of its flagship smartphone since the S5 Mini back in 2014.
If this rumour does turn out to be true, it'll be interesting to see the handset's full spec list.
It should also be cheaper than the full-size S8.
The phone is rumoured to launch this summer.
