Barclays has become the first bank in the UK to enable payments via Siri, so iPhone owners can now pay contacts by simply asking their phone to transfer cash.
It’s as simple as saying ‘Hey Siri, pay John £15 with Barclays’. There’s no need to open the app as long as you grant Siri access to it beforehand.
Users can pay existing payees from within their Barclays app, or contacts on their iPhone.
For those concerned about fraud, Barclays says users will have to authenticate payments using Touch ID, meaning there’s no chance of your chums trying to swindle you out of your hard–earned cash.
While this feature has been available via PayPal for some time, Barclays is the first high street bank in the UK to offer the service.
The launch comes as Apple’s payment service looks set to undergo a major overhaul.
The Californian company is said to be getting rid of Touch ID with its new iPhone 8 and switching to a 3D facial scanning system instead.
