Apple is hoping to launch its iPhone 8 at a special event on 12th September, to be held in the 1,000 capacity Steve Jobs theatre on its new Apple Park campus.
Sources speaking with the Wall Street Journal made the claim, reiterating previous reports from France that Apple was priming a 12th September event.
The venue may yet change as the building work on Apple’s new campus has not yet finished.
With just two weeks to go until that date, it’s likely Apple will announce its plans in the next few days. The WSJ’s sources did not indicate when the iPhone 8 would be released, although it has been mooted that the device will hit shelves on Friday 22nd September.
The iPhone 8 is set to come with an edge-to-edge display, 3D facial recognition and vertical dual lens camera, as well as wireless charging and iOS 11.
The same event is also likely to see the launch of the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus and new Apple Watch Series 3.
