Another iPhone 8 Plus user has revealed that their new device arrived in an unusable state, with the side of the handset having burst open, possibly due to a bloated battery.
The case comes after a number of reports across Asia revealed users had unboxed their iPhone 8 Plus, only to find it had popped open, with internal components visible.
This particular case will likely cause particular consternation at Apple, as it was first noted by Chinese state media.
Apple is currently attempting to boost its business in China, after sales started to flag over recent months.
Apple has said it is investigating, but has not issued any further statement. Last week it said it was looking into similar cases in Japan and Taiwan.
While the exact cause is unclear, speculation is mounting that leaked gases may be to blame for batteries becoming enlarged.
The good news is that the iPhone 8 Plus appears to be designed to pop open, preventing any explosions.
Apple will be hoping these cases remain limited, especially after last year’s Galaxy Note 7 debacle severely damaged Samsung’s reputation.
