Sky Mobile has helped consumers save £20 million worth of data since the network went live just over a year ago.
Research commissioned by Sky shows that thanks to its Roll service, which allows users to store unused data in a trove to be used later, customers have not felt the need to buy data they do not use.
There's no limitations on how much data you store in your piggybank. And there's no time limit on using it either.
What else has Sky Mobile got to offer? Here's everything you need to know.
Sky says it helped its customers save almost 2.2 million GBs of data, equivalent to streaming over 3 million hours of TV and movies on a phone, streaming and listening to 440 million songs, or sending over 30 billion instant messages on WhatsApp.
It also calculates that mobile owners in the UK are wasting an estimated £2.2 billion a year on data they do not use, citing major networks which don’t offer a comparable data rollover scheme as the key reason.
“When we entered the smartphone market we wanted to tackle the issue of unused data and customers paying too much for their allowance,” said Liz Wynn, Commercial Director for Sky Mobile.
“We created Sky Mobile and Roll to challenge this status quo. One year on we can see its working, with our customers already saving £20 million worth of data.”
Sky recently revamped its SIM only plans, which now offer more data for no extra outlay and are available to new and existing customers.
Plan options now include 1GB of data for £15 per month and 10GB for £20 per month.
