Samsung could cut as much as $350 off the price of a new Galaxy S9, with the company’s plans for a trade–in programme revealed just days before launch.

A retail worker in the United States, who has received training on the new Galaxy S9, says that Samsung is planning on offering the massive discount to anyone with an eligible device.

In the market for a Galaxy S9? Here's what we know ahead of the big reveal.

It’s not yet clear what will count as an eligible handset. But rumours suggest it could include iPhones as well as last year’s Samsung lineup.

With reports suggesting Samsung will price the Galaxy S9 at £739 SIM–free in the UK, any discount would be extremely welcome.

It’s not clear whether any such programme would be available outside the US.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S9 and S9+ will launch on Sunday 25th February in Barcelona.

Both are set to come with special new variable aperture cameras, changes to the internal specs and dual SIM tech.

Facial scanning is also expected to be a major feature, as Samsung aims to take on Apple’s Face ID.
