Google has added a series of new features to the Maps app for iOS, allowing users to easily access traffic information, the latest public transport times and where’s best in the vicinity for coffee or lunch.
The features, which have been available as part of Google Maps for Android since last year, are available via three dedicated tabs at the bottom of the app’s screen.
Tapping ‘Explore’ brings up the highest rated places nearby for getting something to eat, interesting places to visit or where to fill up with on petrol, as Google continues its bid to replace the guidebook in travellers’ affections.
Hitting ‘Traffic’ displays any snarl ups nearby, so you can get from A to B without having to sit in a tailback. And tapping ‘Public transit’ shows the latest bus and train times.
By setting your home and work destinations, you can also get Google Maps to tell you the quickest route to your two key destinations.
The update is available to download now from the App Store.
