The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T have both been updated to Android 8.1, with users able to download the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system now.

To get the new software, OnePlus owners will need to ensure their phones are able to receive updates via the mobile maker’s Open Beta programme.

As well as bringing refinements through Android 8.1, this latest update also brings a string of new features to two of 2017’s hottest smartphones.

There’s now the ability to answer calls with auto pickup, meaning there’s no need to swipe the screen, as well as the latest security patch from Google to ensure both devices are safe.

What’s more, OnePlus has made changes to the 5T’s feature control system, which can be used instead of the standard keys at the bottom of the device.

First spotted last year, this functionality takes its cues from Apple’s iPhone X, with a swipe up on any screen bringing you back home.
