Vodafone is adding 29 new destinations to its Global Roaming package, available on the network’s Red Entertainment plans. That means customers can now use their phones at no extra cost in a total of 77 destinations.
Previously, these new locations required customers to pay £6 a day to use Vodafone’s ‘roam further’ offer. However, there will now be no charge at all for those who buy a Red Entertainment plan, starting at £24 a month SIM–only.
The new destinations are Albania, Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Australia, Barbados, Bermuda, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Ghana, Grenada, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Mexico, Montserrat, Mozambique, Netherland Antilles, New Zealand, South Africa, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks and Caicos, UK Virgin Islands and USA.
The changes come into effect on 4th September, meaning those currently on their summer holidays will not be able to take advantage.
Vodafone is also priming a new Global Roaming Plus offer that will include 500 minutes for calling numbers in the EU for Red Entertainment customers, meaning calling locals won’t end up adding to your monthly bill. This will only be available for new and upgrading customers.
The £6 a day ‘roam further’ package will still be available in a further 75 destinations.
The move pits Vodafone against Three, whose Go Roam package covers 71 destinations. While fewer than Vodafone, Three’s offer is available on more affordable contracts.
