Samsung has taken steps to reduce the number of accidental Bixby activations on the Galaxy Note 9. The new update for its latest handset summons the personal helper with a double press of the dedicated Bixby button. Previously a single press would do it.
The Note 9 launched with a Bixby button. But because of its awkward placement and the fact that just a single press would activate Bixby, it’s led to lots of accidental activations.
The problem is compounded by the fact you can’t disable the button, or remap it to give it a different function. Previous Samsung handsets let you do both.
However, Samsung has said that it will enable the button to be disabled or remapped by the end of September. Which give it only a few days to make good.
Maybe it’s hoping this slight tweak will placate users. Or it’s just tiding them over until the proper fix arrives. Either way, we’ll know for sure in a few days.
