Google Pixel 3 Lite edges closer to release

Google appears to be readying a cheaper take on its Pixel 3, after an image of a phone being dubbed the Pixel 3 Lite appeared on Twitter.

Renowned tipster Ben Geskin posted the shot, which shows the more affordable device pictured alongside the existing Pixel 3.

Geskin also revealed that the Lite edition will purportedly feature a 5.56–inch screen with an 18.5: 9 aspect ratio.

Not up to speed with the standard Pixel 3 yet? Here's what you need to know.

Interestingly, Google is said to have dropped the microSD slot and opted for a plastic body to help keep costs down. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor will do the heavy lifting, with 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage as standard.

There’s no word yet on a release date or price, but Google will have to try and match the excellent OnePlus 6T’s £499 price point if it wants even a modicum of success.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have been plagued by problems since they were released earlier this year, with owners complaining of failed multitasking and constant screen flickering.

The search giant had been hoping that its latest smartphones could take on the might of Apple and Samsung. But right now, it still has it all to do.
