    OnePlus 5

    At a glance

    • Excellent dual lens camera
    • Impressive battery life
    • Feels very 'premium' for a good price

What's the OnePlus 5 got to offer?

The OnePlus 5’s standout feature is its dual camera set-up, which it's claimed offers the highest resolution of any smartphone and makes it very easy for anyone to get good results. But it's got much to recommend it besides that.

Here, we'll take you through some of the phone’s key features:

    Dual 16MP and 20MP cameras

With an 8X zoom, the OnePlus 5's camera allows you to take super close-up shots that won’t lose any detail, while the large f/ 1.7 aperture lets in more light for better snaps in low-light conditions.

It focuses fast too, which is handy when you’re trying to capture fleeting moments. And there’s a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and the option to record video in 4K to give your mini movies a multiplex sheen.

But where the dual cameras really excel is in ‘depth-of-field’ shots or so-called ’bokeh’ images, enabling you sharpen the focus on your subject in the foreground while blurring out background details. The results are very arresting, indeed.

At 7.25mm thick, the OnePlus 5 looks great but still makes room for a large 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display.

Made from aluminium, it’s still light at 153g and feels every inch a premium smartphone.

The OnePlus 5 is powered by a version of Android called OxygenOS that you’ll only find on OnePlus phones. If you’ve used Android before, you’ll be very much at home.

But OxygenOS has some exclusive features too. Such as a handy Reading Mode that replicates an e-reader and Do Not Disturb, which lets you shut off alerts and interruptions for when you’re playing a game.

    Battery and fast-charge

A 3,300 mAh battery powers the OnePlus 5, which we found gave a full day of use without needing to recharge.

There’s also a great fast-charge mode, dubbed Dash Charge, which powers up the phone to full charge in half an hour.

    Storage and processor

You can pick up the OnePlus 5 in 64GB or 128GB storage options. There’s no option to expand this, but even 64GB will be ample for all but the most demanding users.

A power-efficient Qualcomm 835 processor keeps everything ticking over smoothly, even when you’re multi-tasking.
