Godiva Mortgages is a subsidiary of Coventry Building Society. The brand name ‘Godiva’ derives from the logo of the Coventry Building Society – Lady Godiva on horseback. Coventry Building Society provides a wide range of residential mortgages for first time buyers and existing home owners, but through Godiva Mortgages Ltd, Coventry Building Society provides mortgages to the buy to let sector. Godiva Mortgages are sold through intermediaries.
Landlords and property investors can choose from a selection of fixed rate mortgages and variable rate mortgages. Certain restrictions apply to buy to let mortgages from Godiva and it is important that eligibility criteria are met before an application is made as booking fees are non-refundable.
Buy to let Godiva mortgages are not available to first time buyers.
Godiva mortgages are not available on properties intended for Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs). Properties cannot be let to multiple residences, the only exception being student houses where the maximum occupancy is four students. This restriction also applies to houses with more than one kitchen.
Buy to let mortgage applications will not be considered on properties where the rental income will come from Department of Work and Pensions benefit payments or where the property will be let to a close family member. Properties cannot be used as a main residence and then re-mortgaged on a buy to let basis.
The maximum term of a Godiva mortgage is 35 years. All mortgage applicants must be 18 years or older and be UK residents. Non-permanent UK residents will not be considered.
