About Hinckley & Rugby Building Society

The Hinckley & Rugby Building Society’s story begins when the Rugby Provident Building Society was founded in 1861. Four years later the Hinckley Freehold Land and Permanent Building Society was formed. Little is known about the Rugby Provident, but the Hinckley Permanent Building Society, as it became known from 1907 onwards, grew and prospered over the years.

In 1982, The Hinckley Building Society merged with the Rugby Building Society and the Hinckley & Rugby Building Society opened its doors. The society continued to grow, despite the tough economic conditions in the early 1990s and the recession that followed in 2007.

Today the Hinckley & Rugby Building Society offers a selection of products and services to customers in the Rugby and Hinckley area. These services include savings accounts, mortgages, financial advice and the provision of funeral plans for the over 50s.
