Sky Movies subscribers have been treated to a number of premieres over the Christmas period, with hits such as 'Iron Man 3', 'Wreck-it Ralph' and 'Oz The Great and Powerful' airing for the first time.

And as we head into a new year, there are even more film debuts to look forward to on Sky Premiere and Sky Premiere HD.

star trek into darkness

Four more new films land on Sky Movies on Friday January 3rd, including the latest Star Trek instalment, two action flicks, and a super-hero comedy.

'Star Trek Into Darkness' - the follow-up to J.J. Abrams acclaimed 2009 reboot - sees Kirk, Spock, Bones et al take on intergalactic terrorist John Harrison.

The former Starfleet member - played by Benedict Cumberbatch - is causing havoc in space, forcing the crew of Starship Enterprise to come to the rescue.

With a blend of humour, deftly-drawn characters and superb visual effects, this sequel builds upon the success of the previous Star Trek film.

If all-out action is more your bag, then 'Fire With Fire' and '12 Rounds 2: Reloaded' are likely to be up your street.

In 'Fire With Fire', detective Mike Cella (Bruce Willis) is forced to intervene when firefighter Jeremy Coleman (Josh Duhamel) sees Aryan gang boss Hagen (Vincent D’Onofrio) murder two innocents.

While Jeremy waits to testify under witness protection, Cella receives a message that leaves him with no choice but to bypass the law and ensure Hagen gets his comeuppance.

In the second action film to air on Sky Premiere this week, '12 Rounds 2: Reloaded', emergency paramedic Nick Malloy finds himself caught in a deadly 12-round game of cat and mouse with a vigilante linked to his past.

With little time to spare and the life of his wife hanging in the balance, Malloy must work out why he has been chosen to be the pawn in the maniac's game.

Wrestler Randy Orton and Cindy Busby star in this sequel to the 2009 original, which starred John Cena.

'Alter Egos' asks the question, what would happen if you had great powers but no responsibility?

In this comedy film, real super-heroes live alongside ordinary folk as state-funded crime-fighters. But with the last super-villain behind bars, these extraordinary individuals find themselves surplus to requirements.

'Star Trek Into Darkness', 'Fire With Fire', '12 Rounds 2: Reloaded' and 'Alter Egos' will air for the first time on UK TV on Sky Premiere this Friday (January 3rd 2014).
