US sci-fi drama 'Almost Human' will be shown on Watch in the UK.
No exact date has been set for its UK premiere, but the UKTV channel will show it later in the year.
The series was shown on Fox in the US. It's made by JJ Abrams – the man behind 'Lost', 'Star Trek Into Darkness', 'Fringe' and 'Super 8' – and Joel Wyman.
Abrams and Wyman previously worked together on 'Fringe'.
'Almost Human' stars Karl Urban (Eomer in 'Lord of the Rings') as John Kennex, a technophobic detective in the year 2048. In a classic odd-couple pairing, he's partnered with an eccentric android partner called Dorlan, played by Michael Ealy.
It also stars Minka Kelly, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby and Lili Taylor.
The first series consists of 13 episodes.
Watch previously acquired another US sci-fi thriller from JJ Abrams called 'Believe'.
"'Almost Human is a multilayered, gripping drama and it perfectly complements supernatural drama 'Believe'," said Catherine Mackin, UKTV's director of programme acquisitions.
UKTV's Watch general manager Steve Hornsey said: "The combination of 'Almost Human''s unique and compelling twist on a police procedural drama and JJ Abrams' stamp of creative quality makes this show the perfect fit for Watch.
"It also reinforces our commitment to premiering fresh and exciting US content to UK viewers, ahead of other British broadcasters."
In the US, the first series of 'Almost Human' finished on Fox earlier this month.
Watch is part of UKTV, which is a joint venture of lifestyle channels firm Scripps Networks Interactive and BBC Worldwide.
