Netflix on Roku is now able to start up much quicker, thanks to an update.

Netflix and Roku have launched a new version of the Netflix app that starts up almost automatically.

The new app is rolling out now, and will come to the Roku 3 and Roku Streaming Stick first. Because these devices have faster processors, the speedier start-up time will be more noticeable compared to older devices like the Roku 2 and Roku LT.

On the more powerful devices, the app will launch almost instantly, according to Netflix.

A spokesperson from the streaming service told Recombu: "Roku and Netflix have worked together to make the Netflix experience on Roku Streaming Stick even snappier. With this update, the Netflix channel now launches in just a few seconds."

If you want to instigate a manual update on your Roku device, go to Settings, then select System Update.

However, Roku is carrying out updates in batches on different days, so the manual update might not work.

ITV Player recently came to Roku (as well as the Now TV Box). BBC Sport hit the platform at the end of last month too, so it's fully equipped for watching the World Cup.
