Peter Capaldi's full-length debut as Doctor Who was watched by almost 7 million people.

The series eight premier 'Deep Breath' drew 6.79 million viewers on Saturday night. That's a 32.5 per cent audience share.

At its peak, 6.96 million people were watching.

Reaction to the episode was largely positive. Previous Doctor Colin Baker tweeted: "Oh yes Peter Capaldi! Great stuff – great beginning. Bring it on." While Terry Molloy – who played lead Dalek Davros in previous series – tweeted: "Oh YES! #DoctorWho Peter Capaldi rocks! Superb! Excellent!!!! Crackingly good start!"

The next episode has also been teased by the BBC. You can watch the trailer below.

It sees The Doctor come face to face with the Daleks, his most well-known enemy.

In the teaser, The Doctor and his companions visit the "most dangerous place in the universe". We then see the Daleks screeching "Exterminate!"

Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman – who plays his assistant Clara Oswald – were in central London last week for a photo shoot. As you can see, they posed in front of Big Ben with a Tardis that looked like it'd burrowed up out of the ground.
