Sky has launched a Sky Sports News HQ app for its wallet-friendly Now TV Box.

And you won’t need a subscription to Sky Sports to watch it. Or even necessarily a sports pass. The app works with any Now TV pass – be it sports, entertainment, or movies – so you can keep up with all the sports news as it happens.

The app will remain accessible even after the shorter Now TV passes have expired. You’ll be able to watch it 30 days after you activated your pass. So even if your Sky Sports Day Pass or Sky Sports Week Pass has run out, you can still stay up to date on the sporting headlines.

The app is available now, and lands just in time for the transfer deadline.

“On Monday, we’ll see the frenzy of Transfer Deadline Day reach fever pitch as the clock ticks down to 11pm,” said Gideon Katz, director of Now TV.

“Sky Sports News HQ is always right at the heart of the latest breaking sports news and the new app on the Now TV Box means sports fans can now get even more from their Now TV passes.”

The Now TV Box already boasts apps from the likes of BBC iPlayer, 4oD, ITV Player, Demand 5, YouTube, Facebook and Spotify. The device costs £9.99.
